As you may know, open mics have been a haven and breeding ground
for songwriters and performers throughout the history of contemporary
music. They are one of the best environments to get your material
heard & worked out. Open mic nights are the BEST way for
musicians to meet and collaborate!
Purpose of this event:
To provide a "supportive and professional environment" for
musicians, singers, and songwriters to perform their music
in front of a live audience. Who plays: Professional Artists
who want to showcase new material, or who may just wish to
interact with other musicians in a performance environment.
New Musicians/Singers/Songwriters who wish to utilize an
Open Mic to hone their performance skills while benefiting
from the learning experience made possible by the presence
of professional artists, other musicians and a live audience.
Part-time and Weekend Musicians who want to utilize an Open
Mic to express themselves in a formal club environment in
front of a live audience.
Performance Guidelines:
Sign in @ 7:30 PM - Simply print your name clearly on the
sign-up list in the first available space. When you are
announced, your instrument should already be tuned and
ready to play. You must be present for the sign-up. It
is unfair to the people who are there on time for someone
else to sign you in. If you come in late, you can sign
up at the end of the list. You can't give your slot to
someone else if you leave. Be ready to perform when it's
your turn.
The program runs from 8:00: to 12:00 am. All acoustic genres
are OK. Instrumentation should be acoustic. (An exception
is made for electric bass when plugged directly into our
board.) You may bring your own keyboard with a ¼ inch
direct out. Instruments with pickups must plug into our board.
Leave the amplifiers, effects boxes, etc. at home. Direct
boxes are OK, but double check that you have a good battery
and good cables. Please be aware that children may be present
in the main diningroom so adjust your performance accordingly,
especially during the first two hours. The Keywester’s
open mic is intended to showcase musical talents; It is not
a poet's or comedian's open mike.
